COLLEGE PREPARATORY ACADEMICS

Monarch School challenges all of our students with a rigorous college preparatory curriculum. We believe that, when provided the right environment and support, all students can fulfill their true academic potential.  Whether they have traditionally struggled in school or excelled, the students work with teachers trained to meet each one at their current level of ability and challenge them further. Although we believe that college is a natural step for all of our students, we prepare them to become life long learners, open to new educational experiences wherever and whenever encountered.

Our open enrollment and quarter system allows students to catch up academically when needed or accelerate to post secondary courses as appropriate. All students take up to 5 classes per quarter; these typically are three core subjects (Social Studies, English, Science, Foreign Language, Math), in addition to at least one creative arts class and one geared towards vocational studies. Our quarter system allows our students to earn up to1 1/2 years of high school credit in as little as 12 months.

Monarch School also provides educational opportunities off campus by encouraging students to attend the Ashland Shakespeare Festival, Presidential Classroom in Washington D.C., various academic competitions as well as classical performances and symphonies. These enhancements to the curriculum help us to provide a rich educational environment designed to generate excitement, investment and personal effort in our students.
