Family Counselors work in tandem with Monarch staff providing
individual guidance and communication to parents. The cost
of these individual sessions is separate from tuition and
can be submitted for insurance reimbursement. Regular phone
calls and written reports are provided by the Family Counselor
to parents regarding their child’s clinical needs
and progress.
Family Counselors are fully integrated into the daily life
of Monarch School students. Therapeutic sessions do not
occur in the confines of an office or building. Most Monarch
School students have experienced this approach with little
success. Instead, Family Counselors work together with Monarch
School staff, meeting the needs of the student in their
environment. For example, Family Counselors may work in
the garden with students, chopping wood, preparing a meal,
taking walks, playing sports or having meals with students.
Monarch School students build relationships based on trust
and familiarity, which promotes a more meaningful opportunity
for real growth and change.
